What is recorded here

Knockdolian Castle in South Ayrshire belongs to the McCubbin line, especially Fergus and Margaret Kennedy, who occupied it about the middle of the seventeenth century. It stands on the foundation of a much older knightly structure, and the family improved the lands before Covenanting crises scattered some branches away from home. The castle is still listed as an unassigned building, preserving a place where local memory, displacement and return became entangled.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Knockdolian Castle as Building (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
