Why this person mattered

Robert Blake was a British naval commander and politician active during the English Civil War, renowned for his military successes and role as Lord Protector under Oliver Cromwell; however, the plaque likely refers to a member of the Blake family who were significant in the colonization and development of the Falkland Islands.
