Glastonbury Tor rises to approximately 52 meters (170 feet) above sea level and is composed of a prominent red sandstone outcrop capped with ironstone. It is steeped in folklore, notably associated with Arthurian legends and believed by some to be the site of the mythical Isle of Avalon. The Tor is a significant local landmark and a focus of both historical and spiritual interest.
