Mud, muscle and marrow built The Mount moments after the Norman conquest, lifting a military shadow above Shropshire within decades of 1066. Men may have bled while hauling earth, yet the castle stood as a bailey and watchful mound, directing the newly conquered county from its height. Hill House Farm sits one hundred and twenty metres away, small beside the vanished room where power once turned.
