Loch of Tingwall

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Loch of Tingwall as Chapel (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The Loch of Tingwall is associated with St. Nectan, a 6th-century Irish monk believed to have founded a hermitage in the area. Traditionally linked to healing and protection, the site was once visited for its curative waters, though specific folklore or recorded rituals connected to the loch remain sparse.
