Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Unst, Gallow Hill as Chambered Cairn (neolithic). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Neolithic chambered cairn; dates to the early Neolithic period, approximately 3500–2500 BCE. It is significant as part of a broader network of chambered cairns in northern Scotland, reflecting early communal burial and ritual practices.
