Why this matters

A local fairy fort (ringfort/rath); wider significance not recorded.

What is recorded here

In rough pasture broken by outcropping rock, on a ridge. A subrectangular area (4.5m N-S; 3.4m E-W) built against the N side of the outcropping rock. It is defined by the outcropping rock on its S side and by a partially collapsed drystone wall (T 0.65m; H 0.5m; L 5.3m) on its W side, where it is straight, and elsewhere, where it is curved. Loose stones are scattered outside the curving section of the wall. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry. Volume I: South-West Kerry' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 30 May 2011
