Gateway, c.1800, comprising round-headed carriageway with tooled limestone ashlar piers having cut-limestone stringcourse to spring of arch, limestone ashlar voussoirs, and tooled limestone ashlar parapet having remains of carved cut-limestone cornice supporting ivy-clad blocking course. Set back from road in grounds shared with Sheastown House.

An elegantly-composed Classically-flavoured gateway representing an important element of the Sheastown House estate on account of the status as one of the last surviving fragments of a once-extensive farmyard complex possibly redeveloped in the early twentieth century to designs attributable to William Alphonsus Scott (1871-1921) in a characteristic Arts-and-Crafts style. The remainder of the complex surviving only in fragmentary form the gateway forms an appealing landmark of some picturesque Romantic quality on elevated position overlooking the River Nore.
