What is recorded here

Cauld is a small place, but the pool still casts a shadow on the land. A castle may have stood above the water, using the current to keep intriders out or the basin to reflect light back at attackers. The pool is no longer a border between lives and deaths, but it remains a visible line in the ground.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castle Pool, Cauld as Weir (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
