Kellyly stands in the Scottish Borders as a possible medieval tower house, its exact boundaries still debated but its purpose clear: a tall defensible home for someone who expected danger. The land around it may have smelled of wood smoke, horse sweat and fear during border raids, while its walls watched for trouble from a distance.
