Twenty Castlegate stands in Jedburgh as a nineteenth-century terraced house, its stone walls built for ordinary life in the Scottish Borders. It may have sheltered lovers, arguers, children and travellers, though no name survives in the request. The house still belongs to the town, and the town still belongs to the world.
