What is recorded here

Castledykes and Loudoun Hill mark a Roman road stretching from Peebles toward Irvine. Soldiers, merchants or fleeing civilians may have worn that surface smooth before history forgot their names. The stones still hold the shape of footsteps now lost.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Peebles - Castledykes - Loudoun Hill - Irvine (?) as Roman Road (roman). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
