What is recorded here
Palace Hill is a prehistoric pit alignment in the Scottish Borders, marked by holes rather than walls. People dug those pits before written history, perhaps to mark a boundary, guide a route or exclude others from a sacred edge. The hares and grass have since smoothed the site into an ordinary hill, but the buried line still interrupts the soil beneath your feet.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Palace Hill as Pit Alignment (prehistoric). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
