Duns Castle stands in the Scottish Borders as a Gothic house built around a massive Norman keep that may date from 1320, when Thomas Randolph, 1st Earl of Moray received the lands from Robert the Bruce. The castle has changed hands repeatedly, been remodelled several times, and now hosts weddings beside two man-made lakes. Its rooms have likely echoed with soldiers, negotiators, craftsmen and guests, while the old keep still rises through the later building like a buried bone forcing its way through skin.
