Duns Castle is a Gothic mansion in the Scottish Borders that still contains a massive Norman keep said to date from 1320, though architectural historians place that surviving stone work in the 15th or 16th century. The castle has absorbed wars, ownership changes and repeated remodeling, yet it still stands beside two man-made lakes where people now walk, marry or gather. Its history is not a clean line but a layered place, with older stone hidden inside later grandeur and human events still moving through it.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Duns Castle as Findspot (period Unassigned), Axehead (stone)(period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 100m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
