Neidpath Castle stands as a ruined L-plan tower house west of Peebles, built by Simon Fraser between 1263 and 1266 and later remodelled by the Hay family. Mary, Queen of Scots visited in 1563, while Oliver Cromwell’s forces attacked it in 1650, leaving the west wing damaged before the 2nd Earl of Tweeddale added outbuildings. The upper storeys collapsed by 1790, yet the site still holds a prehistoric flint scraper and remains a wedding venue where ghosts of siege and scholarship still linger.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Neidpath Castle as Findspot (21st Century), Scraper (tool) (flint)(prehistoric). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
