Blackcastle Hill holds cultivation terraces in the Scottish Borders, though no date or builder is recorded. The stones may have marked garden edges, trial plots or forgotten kitchen work. People could have lived beside them, tended what they grew and left the name behind. The hill keeps that much of the gesture even when the facts stop.
