Beneath the castles, middle Iron Age hands scooped the earth into shallow rooms, shaping a settlement before stone towers ever rose above it. The older diggings still mark the ground, while the newer structures stand unnamed and undated, leaving a gap where memory should be. Both layers belong to the same place, yet neither has given up its full story.
