Dean Castles is a prehistoric burial cairn in the Scottish Borders, where ancient hands may have stacked stones to mark the dead. The grass could hide a chamber, a cache or only a heap of river rocks, but the name suggests people remembered the site long after the last body vanished. Walk past it with respect, since the ground may still hold bones and the castles in its name may be a joke born from grief.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Dean Castles as Burial Cairn (prehistoric). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
