What is recorded here

Newcastleton Bridge crossed the border in the 18th Century, carrying carts, horses and hurried people across water that still pulls at stone. Its decks may have vibrated under cart wheels and rained river mist into the faces of those crossing at dawn. The bridge is no longer a border line but a local landmark, remembered in maps and mentioned in national records.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Newcastleton, Bridge as Bridge (18th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
