This blue commemorative plaque records: Public Hall. This building was opened in 1901 as the town's main meeting place. It replaced the Corn Exchange which had burned down in 1898. The basement of the Hall contains part of one of many malt barns found in Jedburgh until the 18th century. It also housed the town armoury. Recorded plaque organisation: Royal Burgh of Jedburgh.
Public Hall served as Jedburgh's primary meeting place since its opening in 1901, replacing the burnt-down Corn Exchange and incorporating parts of historic malt barns, while also housing the town armoury.
