Indicated — Scarvy

Designed landscape — tree-ring

What is recorded here

Located on a slight rise towards the bottom of a NW-facing slope, with Scarvy House c. 300m to the NE. It is depicted as an oval wooded enclosure only on the 1907 edition of the OS 6-inch map. This is an oval area (dims c. 41m N-S; 24m E-W) planted with trees that is defined by a slight scarp (H c. 0.7-1m). There is no visible fosse or entrance. It is known locally as a ‘fort’ but it is more probably a tree-ring. Date of upload: 10 June 2011
