RATH in Roughan

RATH

What is recorded here

Roughan still carries the name of a rath, though no wall or ditch remains visible to mark the boundary. The land may have closed around a household, a warning flame or a child running home, but the earth has taken back the shape. What is left is a name that keeps pointing at a lost centre, forcing imagination to build the room the stones abandoned.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as RATH. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
