WW2 bomb store (part of RAF Castle Archdale) in Rossmore

WW2 bomb store (part of RAF Castle Archdale)

What is recorded here

Mud and memory cling to Castle Archdale’s hidden chambers, where Rossmore soil still guards the weight of weapons built to break the world. Men carried fire into darkness, believing distance and obedience would make the violence clean. The earth swallowed that arrogance, preserving the shape of their fear long after the guns went silent.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as WW2 bomb store (part of RAF Castle Archdale). Recorded period: C20TH. Recorded protection: Proposed for scheduling. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
Built by the Royal Air Force as part of RAF Castle Archdale during World War II, the bomb store is important as a remnant of Northern Ireland's role in the war effort and the strategic airfield's contribution to Allied operations.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
