What is recorded here

Roosky in Monaghan is where the dead were buried. The place is no longer visible, but it is still certain because the bodies were seen. That is rarer than it should be. Most ancient death is locked inside the earth, unnamed and uncounted. Here the ground gave up its secret at the wrong moment, during human work, and the dead became knowable for an instant.
The following description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Burials uncovered during construction of public facilities in Church Square, Monaghan town, in 1940s.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
