Enclosure

What is recorded here

Towards the bottom of the fairly steep N-facing slope of a drumlin overlooking the S shore of Tully Lough. Known locally to have been a 'fort' and described as two small ringforts (diam. c. 30m) (NMI file), two small fields are marked on the 1837 and 1914 eds of the OS 6-inch map. No feature is visible at ground level in improved pasture and scrub, but excavation by F. Moore revealed a fosse (Wth c. 5m) S-W with some posts and cairn material in the interior.
