What is recorded here

In Rinbrack, County Mayo, a standing stone still rises from the earth, waiting for human hands to remember what it has watched. It may have marked a boundary, a burial, a meeting place or a warning, yet no local name has survived to say which. The stone does not need a date to be ancient, nor does it need praise to be worthy of notice. It stands because it has resisted every attempt to erase it, including the desire to forget.
