Castle Semple Loch is a 1.5-mile freshwater basin at Lochwinnoch where the River Calder once swirled into a vast body called Loch Winnoch before human drainage split it in two. John, Lord Sempill built a collegiate church on its northern shore in 1504, while a medieval peel tower still guards the southern margin against forgotten dangers. The water now belongs to Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park, hosting rowing championships and birdlife instead of estate pride. What remains is a place shaped twice: once by marsh and memory, once by intention and measurement.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castle Semple Loch as General View (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
