What is recorded here
Castle Semple Laundry stood beside the castle in Renfrewshire, washing clothes for the estate through the nineteenth and into the twentieth century. Water from the land fed the basins, and the building turned dirty linen into clean fabric for the people who lived under the old stones. The laundry is gone now, but the castle still rises above the valley where the water once ran.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castle Semple, Laundry as Laundry (19th Century) - (20th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
