This blue commemorative plaque records: 29th April National/International Friendship Day This pioneering concept was established to commemorate and celebrate the values and strengths of friendship worldwide on this day by three Nepalese friends and social reformers: the late Shri Ram Bahadur Tamang, Shri Mahanta Bahadur Shrestha and Shri Padma Prakash Shrestha Here at 124 Caversham Road, Reading, Berkshire on 29th April 1993 Jane Griffiths M.P. unveiled this plaque on 29th April 1998 Recorded plaque organisation: Nepal Kingdom Foundation, Nepal United Network (UK), Reading Borough Council.
Ram Bahadur Tamang, Mahanta Bahadur Shrestha, and Padma Prakash Shrestha were Nepalese social reformers who established International Friendship Day on April 29th to promote the values and importance of friendship globally. This concept was officially recognized and celebrated for the first time at their residence in Reading, Berkshire, on April 29, 1993.
