Rathenny Earthwork stands as a D-shaped shadow in County Offaly pasture, stretching forty-six metres across land once belonging to Rathenny House. Its outline emerges only when viewed from above, suggesting human hands shaped the soil before memory faded. The grass may hide a boundary marker, burial place or gathering spot now forgotten by local speech. What is certain is that the earth still holds the shape of that lost intention.
