RATH & Man-made underground passage in Drumard

RATH & Man-made underground passage

What is recorded here

Mortars and purpose-built chambers reveal a rare fortified underground passage in County Derry. Such hidden works suggest people valued secrecy, safety or ritual enough to carve stone rather than build wood. The distinction matters because ordinary trenches disappear while deliberate chambers resist forgetting.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as RATH & Man-made underground passage. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
