R.C. Chapel (in Ruins)

On W side of an old laneway, 100m W of the Grange River. The ruins are those of a rectangular church (NE-SW; L 12.75m, Wth 4.25m), in fair condition, probably of 18th-C date. There is a doorway roughly midway along SE wall, much of which survives only as a foundation. The NE gable contains a roughly square window with a slightly segmental head, below which are traces of an altar abutting the gable. There is also a small flat-headed window set off-centre in SW gable. Just below this, internally, is a rough cross formed naturally by fissures in the stone. Traces of rendering are visible both externally and internally. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'.
