A hachured area marked on the 1932 edition of the OS 6-inch map, and named 'Gravel Pit' on the OS 1:2500 plan (surveyed 1912-16), proved on inspection in 1985 to be a hollow overgrown with trees, at the centre of which was a dried-up pond.
