PRE-NORMAN; MEDIEVAL CHURCH SITE; POST-MED CHURCH; GRAVEYARD: KILRAGHTS or CILLI RATHNAITE or KELLRETHI in Kilraghts

Kilraghts, also called Cilli Rathnaite or Kellrethi, has marked death and devotion in County Antrim since early Christian times. A medieval church stood there before a post-medieval building replaced it, while the graveyard kept receiving the dead throughout every change. The names themselves suggest a sacred enclosure belonging to Rathnaite, yet no surviving fragment confirms whether that was a person, a family or a forgotten local hero. What is certain is that people kept returning to this exact spot across centuries, laying stones and burying their own beneath them.
