Muddy water still ghosts the ditch around Sycharth Castle, where Owain Glyndŵr kept his court until English troops broke its timber halls in 1403. The broad mound and crescent-shaped bailey remain clear in the Cynllaith valley, large enough to carry a king’s hall, bridge, kitchens and guard room. Iolo Goch’s poem adds peacocks, herons, a mill and a vineyard, turning earth and memory into a living household rather than a dead ruin.
