What is recorded here

Cairn is a small stone mound on a steep limestone edge in County Kerry, built to be seen from far away across marginal grazing land. Its loose stones and shallow shape suggest people worked quickly against weather, placing rock rather than carving it. The view stretches in every direction, so the mound may have marked a boundary, a memory or a warning to travellers.

'These two sites are located on top of a steep limestone outcrop, which affords panoramic views in all directions. The surrounding land is marginal and used for rough grazing. •The larger of the two mounds (KE030-106----) measures 8.00m by 6.00m and is 0.40m in height. Loose stone is visible in its make-up. •The smaller mound (KE030-107----) is 6.00m by 4.00m and is 0.30m in height.'
