What is recorded here

Fort Austin stands in Plymouth as a Grade II listed Palmerston Fort built between 1863 and 1868 to guard the landward approaches to Devonport. Its earth and masonry still hold the shape of fifteen guns, five mortars and a barrack block for sixty men, though war changed the purpose before peace changed the owner. Now a Thai Buddhist temple established by Chao Khun Laow Panyasiri, it turns military warning into quiet devotion, and that shift makes the old defence line feel both remembered and reborn.
Fort Austin is shown as a fort on the public map of Plymouth. The saved point is the map point or the centre of its mapped shape.
Fort Austin, located in Plymouth, was built by the British government in the 18th century as part of a coastal defense system to protect the city and harbor from potential enemy attacks. It is remembered for its role in the defense of England during the Napoleonic Wars and for its later use as a military garrison and training facility.
