Archaeological monitoring (15E0577) by P. Duffy, D. Bayle and J. Whitaker of topsoil stripping over a large area (c. 92 ha.) conducted intermittently between Dec. 2015 and October 2018 uncovered 37 locations of potential archaeological importance (excavations.ie 2016:051). Each of these was further investigated by the same archaeologists under different licences. At Site 7, excavation (16E0092) by P. Duffy recorded (excavations.ie 2016:560) a small pit (diam. 0.6-0.65m; D 0.08-0.17m). It had two fills of grey clay and stones, with plentiful charcoal that was largely oak with some hazel in the upper fill. No artefacts were recovered but a sample of hazel charcoal provided a C14 date of 1045-1225 cal. AD (FTMC-HR36-2). (Duffy et. al. 2021, 29-30)
