This blue commemorative plaque records: Built in 1816 this was the private house of Thomas Alderson Cooke J.P. After his death in 1854 it was acquired by Earl Fitzwilliam and used as an infirmary until 1928. Since 1931 it has housed the Peterborough Museum. Recorded plaque organisation: Peterborough Civic Society.
Thomas Alderson Cooke J.P., a local Justice of the Peace, resided in this house from 1816 until his death in 1854; later, the building served as an infirmary and now houses the Peterborough Museum.
