Bamff House is a privately occupied 16th-century tower belonging to the Ramsay family, hidden on high ground above the Burn of Auchrannie. The line stretches back to a royal doctor named Ness in 1232, through duels, baronetcies and quiet survival of regional wars. Robert Burn remodified the house between 1820 and 1843, but the old tower still anchors the place. The Ramsay name continues there, turning a long borderland lineage into a living estate rather than a dead monument.
