What is recorded here

Blair Castle has guarded the Highland gateway for seven centuries, its white walls absorbing Jacobite blood, Victorian ballroom music, and the march of Europe’s only private army. John Comyn seized the land in 1269 to build a fortress, but the Atholls reclaimed it and stretched that rough tower into a palace where Queen Victoria once walked. The Atholl Highlanders still drill on the grounds, their red coats a living thread from medieval clan warfare to modern ceremony.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Blair Castle as Ring Ditch (period Unassigned)(possible). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 100m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
Blair Castle in Perth and Kinross, Scotland, was originally built by the Clan MacDuff, Earls of Fife, in the 13th century, with significant expansions by the Gordons in the 16th and 17th centuries. It is important as a historic seat of the Gordon family and as a well-preserved example of a Scottish medieval and Renaissance castle.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
