Monzie Castle is a castle mansion near Monzie in Perth and Kinross that still carries an L-plan house from 1634, enlarged later into a much larger castellated building. James Graeme and his wife Marjory are named on its pediments, and his death at Philiphaugh in 1645 left the house behind like a vow unfinished. The eastern part was lost to fire in 1908 and rebuilt, yet the older walls remain, holding corn, scripture and the pride of a family that believed ownership could be written into stone.
