Murthly Castle is a medieval castle in Perth and Kinross, Scotland. It still stands beside the ghost of a much grander house that was built to outshine a neighbour, never finished, and finally exploded into rubble for a hydro scheme. The old castle absorbed some of the abandoned house's carved rooms after a fire, continuing to exist while the proud new palace disappeared.

Murthly Castle was built by the Comyn family in the 13th century and later held by the Earls of Atholl. It is important as a well-preserved example of a medieval Scottish tower house and as a historic seat of a powerful noble family.
