What is recorded here
Perth, Castle Gable holds a bone carving so small it resists easy dating. The castle name suggests noble rooms, hungry dogs or forgotten kitchens where the object once lay. A person may have cut the bone during hunger, boredom or prayer, then dropped it into soil that swallowed the reason. The stone castle still stands while the bone waits for someone clever enough to read its marks.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Perth, Castle Gable as Carved Object (bone)(period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 100m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
