Jacobites surrounded and attacked Dunkeld. Most of the town was destroyed.
Jacobite forces, led by Viscount Dundee, fought against government troops at Dunkeld in 1689 during the Williamite War in Scotland. The Jacobites won a tactical victory, but the destruction of the town highlighted the brutal nature of the conflict and the growing resistance to William of Orange's rule in the Highlands.
