This blue commemorative plaque records: Waldo Williams (1904-1971) Poet Pacifist Quaker Patriot. Waldo stayed here at Alandale between 1949-1951 when the hotel was run by the Thomas family. Waldo and 'Johnny Batch', the head of the household, were firm friends.
