James Legge was a Scottish missionary and renowned Sinologist who significantly contributed to Western understanding of Chinese culture through his translations of classical Chinese texts. His work as a scholar and interpreter made him one of the most important early figures in sinology, bridging Eastern and Western intellectual traditions.
