What is recorded here
Just off crest of hill on gradual NW-facing slope, ground falls quite sharply immediately NW of monument, under pasture. Enclosure not depicted on 1st (1840) or 2nd (1901-05) ed. OS 6-inch map but identified during field survey (Jean Farrelly, 2 October 2000). Monument has been ploughed over but is visible as a circular area (diam. 29.1m N-S; 31.2m E-W) defined by a low, broad bank (Wth c. 2.8m; ext. H 0.14m) and in the SW quadrant by a bank (Wth 1.75m crest, 4.2m base; int. H 1.24m; ext. H 1.32m) augmented by a field boundary and very slight, shallow, wide external fosse. Lot of stone evident in bank composition. Monument is grass-covered with brambles growing in the SW quadrant.
