Its recorded inscription reads: In 1890 this street was widened from 10ft 9ins & the buildings on the eastern side were afterwards erected by the Gloucester Cathedral approaches co. ltd involving a sacrifice of £10,000 ANDREW KNOWLES CHAIRMAN. F. W. WALLER. ARCHITECT. FRANCIS W. JONES.
